Dark Timber is great for contrasting the gold leaf names.
This board shows a combination of computer cut lettering (the school crest and the headings).
All the years, names and positions are in gold leaf.
This beautiful old honour board had been completely filled up....i.e. no room to update with new names.
I replaced the old timber insert with a new one which notes the recent history and names.
Plain honour board (with routed edge) in oak stain and semi-gloss finish with gold computer cut vinyl.
An older style of board with an ornate finish and handwritten gold leaf lettering
Not a great photo, due to reflection but black acrylic (perspex) looks great with gold computer cut lettering.
This simple design, looks great and is very cost effective too.
An honour board style sign...i.e. stained and varnished timber background with computer cut gold vinyl plus the crest/logo.
Considering the poor condition of the original. this one came up beautifully.
All lettering, background & border were removed and redone...traditional signwriting with gilded outline with the man touched up in enamel paint.
The glass was broken in an accident, so I made a copy and applied to the inside of a new signwritten glass panel.
The process involves painting butchers paper with two coats of water based gum arabic, followed by two coats of oil based undercoat, then it's ready to paint the sporting scene...In this case North Sydney v Newtown.
Originally painted in 1939.
Before applying the painting to the glass, I signwrote and gilded the "TOOTH'S XXX ALE", "A MAN'S DRINK" plus some very small lettering at the bottom "PROPERTY OF TOOTH & CO. LIMITED 8-39-B" plus the border which was a combination of painted and a gilded border line with an unusual blue border.
Unusual because they were typically either orange or dark green.
This glass panel was in a terrible state. Although most of the gold leaf lettering was intact.
The background, script, border lines & smaller lettering were removed and redone. Part of the face was kept (eyes & ear) but not much else. Fortunately there are records of the original face used which I could use as a reference.
The lettering at the top had come away from the glass.
To make the restoration seamless, I had to remove the sky, lettering and replace it with hand written lettering with a gilded outline.
Printed onto self adhesive vinyl, then applied to gyprock walls
Combination of digital printing and computer cut vinyl applied to a wall behind reception
